Self Portrait Saturday | Tacoma Portrait Photographer

Just wanted to share another of my self portrait from this year! This is the honor the 100 anniversary of Titanic. I actually built this boat completely myself from butcher paper and poster board. Was a lot of work, but a lot of fun to see it come together! Thanks!

Made from Pinterest Monday Meets What to Wear Wednesday.....on Tuesday :)

Today's blog post will be "Made from Pinterest Monday" meets "What to Wear Wednesday"...

What is Pinterest? It's this pretty cool site that everyone shares "pins" from various websites sharing ideas on anything from receipes, crafts, photos and much more.

Here is one of the very first things I made from an idea I only saw on Pinterest. MONSTER PANTS!

My boys are always ripping their pants. Always. I think pants around here last maybe a month, so we have a lot of holes. So when I saw this pin I knew I had to try it.

Here is how I made them...

First start with a pair of jeans that have a hole in them (pretty simple)....then I made the eyes first. I did this because it was much easier to attach them to the Jeans thru the hole then it is thru the entire pant leg. I made one pair doing the eyes first, and another doing them last....way easier to do them first.

Then I made the mouth area. It was much easier to make the entire mouth and sew it to itself then to sew the red mouth and teeth separately to the jeans.

then I put it all together and the monster was complete!

Here is my tip: REALLY sew the monster parts down. Go over it several times because kids are rough and it won't take much for the parts to either fall off and rip apart.

Because my kids are pretty rough, they usualy have a second hole in the other knee...so to cover that up, I just made little knee monsters...pretty cute :) They didn't have to be that big because the hole wasn't as big as the other side.

and that brings me to my What to Wear Wednesday portion....

Not every photo session has to be "Sunday best" or "what's in" and "trendy", you can have fun too, especially for a mini session. I took my boys out for a mini session wearing their monster jeans and brother T-shirts and it made for a fun colorful outfit that was different then the usual outfits I dress them in for shoots. Plus the boys loved what they were wearing.

Here are some of the photos from that mini shoot...

Emily | Sumner High School | Sumner Senior Photographer

This was such a fun session that took place at her aunt's property in Sumner. We caught a break in the clouds from the rain for most of the session and was able to get some great photos. Then the rain came and we just had fun with it. Emily was a beautiful model and had a great personality! It was hard to narrow down my favorites!

The "E" Family | King County Family Photographer

This is another family I have known since I started my photography journey back in 2007. I did the oldest boy's maternity photos. Both boy's are the same age as my sons and remind me so much of them too!.

Its such a joy to watch the boys grow up and get to photograph this family again! Here are some of my favorites from their session :)
